Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information ShadowTech Inc. (“ShadowTech,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects when you visit www.shadowtech.net (the “Site”), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It also sets out the terms that apply to your use of the Site. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.

Who we are

ShadowTech is an independent IT, Linux, and cybersecurity practice based in South Florida, serving small and mid-sized businesses on-site locally and remotely nationwide. Our website address is https://www.shadowtech.net. Wherever this policy refers to contacting us, you can reach us at info@shadowtech.net or 786-693-3180.

Information you give us

We collect personal information only when you choose to give it to us. When you use the contact form, we ask for your name, email address, phone number, and a message describing what you need. If you call or email us directly, we receive the information you include, such as your name, phone number, email address, and the details of your request.

Please do not send passwords, account numbers, or other sensitive credentials through the contact form or by email. If an engagement requires access to your systems, we will arrange a secure way to handle that information.

Cookies and analytics

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. This Site uses Google Analytics, provided through Google Site Kit, to understand how visitors use the Site, for example which pages are visited most, how long visitors stay, what kind of device they use, and their general location. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to do this. We use this information only in aggregate to improve the Site, and we do not use it to identify you personally.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, or install Google’s opt-out browser add-on. For more about how Google handles this data, see Google’s Privacy Policy.

WordPress, the software that runs the Site, may also set cookies if you log in to the Site. Visitors who do not log in do not receive these login cookies.

Server logs

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard server log information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, the pages you request, and the date and time of your visit. These logs are used to operate the Site, diagnose problems, and protect it against abuse and attacks.

Embedded content from other websites

Some pages on the Site include content embedded from other websites. In particular, our Videos page embeds presentations hosted on YouTube. Embedded content behaves in the same way as if you had visited the other website directly.

Those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including when you have an account with them and are logged in. Their handling of your information is governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • respond to your questions and requests;
  • discuss, quote, and deliver the services you ask about;
  • schedule work and follow up on it;
  • understand how the Site is used, so we can improve it;
  • keep the Site secure and working properly; and
  • meet our legal, accounting, and tax obligations.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not add you to a mailing list without your permission.

Where your information is sent

Messages sent through the contact form are delivered to us by email. Your information may therefore pass through, or be stored by, the service providers that run the Site and our business, namely our web hosting provider, our email provider, and Google Analytics. These providers handle data under their own security and privacy terms.

How long we keep your information

We keep contact messages and related correspondence for as long as we need them to respond to you, to provide services you request, and to maintain normal business records. If you become a client, we keep records of the engagement for as long as required for legal, tax, and accounting purposes. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ data retention settings.

What rights you have over your information

You may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. To make a request, email info@shadowtech.net or call 786-693-3180. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request. This does not include information we are required to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

How we protect your information

Security is the core of what ShadowTech does, and we apply the same care to our own systems. The Site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, login attempts to the Site are limited to slow down password-guessing attacks, and access to messages and client information is restricted to the people who need it. No website or method of transmission is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Client confidentiality

In the course of our work, clients may give us access to their systems, networks, accounts, and data. We treat everything we learn about a client’s systems and business as confidential. We do not disclose it to anyone except as needed to deliver the work, as the client authorizes, or as the law requires. The specific terms for client data are set out in each client’s agreement with us, and that agreement takes priority over this policy where the two differ.

Third party use

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise pass your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal information to other organizations for their marketing purposes. We share information only with the service providers described above, or when we are required to do so by law, such as in response to a valid court order or subpoena.

Testimonials

We publish a client’s name, company, or testimonial only with that client’s permission. If you have given us a testimonial and would like it changed or removed, contact us and we will take care of it.

Links to other websites

The Site contains links to websites that we do not operate, such as client websites and outside resources. We are not responsible for the content, security, or privacy practices of those websites, and a link does not mean we endorse them. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any website you visit.

Copyrights and trademarks

All content on the Site, including text, graphics, logos, and layout, is the property of ShadowTech Inc. or is used with permission, and is protected by copyright and trademark laws. You may view and print pages from the Site for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, reproduce, republish, or distribute any part of the Site for commercial purposes without our written permission. Other names, logos, and trademarks shown on the Site, including those of clients, software, and certification bodies, belong to their respective owners.

Disclaimers and limitations of warranties

The information on the Site, including guides such as our Been Hacked page, is provided for general information only. It is not legal, compliance, or professional advice for your specific situation, and using the Site or contacting us does not create a client relationship. A client relationship begins only when we both agree to the terms of an engagement.

The Site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. To the fullest extent permitted by law, ShadowTech is not liable for any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site or any website linked from it.

Changes to the Site and this policy

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Site at any time, and we may restrict or deny access to anyone who misuses it. We may also update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date below. Your continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
